Music Ish: Reverb Nation for the Artist

In helping a friend with some music portability, I’ve decided to post a little bit about Reverb Nation.

I first signed on with RN because I stumbled across their linkage with Facebook. I signed up for curiosity’s sake and when I logged in, I was highly impressed with all the tools they’ve made available. (You can sign up as an artist, management, a label, venue, and/or a fan.)

It’s like Facebook for music, only better, so I’ve decided to share a tutorial/review of the place from the ‘artist’ perspective.

More About Muggz

Since I can’t take him in and it’s breaking my heart, for anybody in Tallahassee (or close by) who’s interested or knows someone who might be:

Muggz 12/09

That’s my favorite pup and I just found out he’s in the shelter over by Tom Brown Park (map). Given he’s a red nose, ya’ll can imagine how long he’ll last. He’s a great dog but he is big and very unruly. He was very close to being housebroken (a few months too late) but stuff happened. He loves kids but he’s far too bouncy and powerful to be around them.

He’s six months old and I’d highly recommend a large (and sturdy) kennel if he’ll be an inside dog and a lead if he’s out. Anybody who takes him in will have their hands full til he’s trained but he will make a great pet to the right owner. Just love me enough to give me visitation and we’ll be cool! ;) Please, the sooner we get him outta there, the better!

Proprietary

So, as has been mentioned, I’m working between Ubuntu and Windows. Ubuntu kicks ass but I’m stuck with Windows, as well, for a litany of reasons. Proprietary software is one of em.

I’m working on some music uploads and I decided it’s time to eliminate the issue of having ‘unknown artist’ pop up on a pressed up CD. It’s just not cool. Research led me smack into the fact that I can’t upload the music information unless I’m using Windows. The new owners of the CDDB won’t allow projects like MusicBrainz or freeDB access to their database. What a waste! Shame to think that CDDB started out free with people being able to send emails straight to the guy who actually started it!

Bad form, Gracenote, bad form.

Final, Finally!

Well, almost finally. I have to finish the paperwork to go with it but here’s part of the reason I’ve been so preoccupied (school really does suck sometimes) – a quick and ’simple’ mock-up for a fake client’s website, my final for this session:

(And much love to whomever is in the company photo I snagged to fill in!)

Now that that’s all out of the way and I’ve shoved a few other items off my plate, I’m gonna catch up on some coding and start some new projects that have been sitting on the back burner for far too long. -grin-

Via My Moms: Funnies for folks 30+

Before my ‘break’ ends, a bit more ‘work.’ I had to share something my mom sent me. I got a laugh. I know there’s another one like this floating around out there…somewhere. Now I’ll have to see if I can find it again, after I’m not so bogged down, perhaps…

This one here, I dedicate to all the LaetBloomerz out there…

THE SPOILED UNDER-30 CROWD!!!

When I was a kid, adults used to bore me to tears with their tedious diatribes about how hard things were. When they were growing up; what with walking Twenty-five miles to school every morning….Uphill… barefoot… BOTH ways Yadda, yadda, yadda…

And I remember promising myself that when I grew up, there was no way in hell I was going to lay a bunch of crap like that on my kids about how hard I had it and how easy they’ve got it! But now that I’m over the ripe old age of thirty, I can’t help but look around and notice the youth of today.
